Karnataka government had arrested unlawfully, the editor of karavali ale , a kannada eveninger of coastal Karnataka and his wife on night of march 3rd. State government and sangh parivaar jointly harassing press couple by not allowing to get, even, bail so far. Earlier to this their press and residence are attacked by sangh parivaar and damaged the printing and other property. Hands behind these acts were not yet even brought under the law . These acts are totally against to the principles of the so called democracy,freedom of expression and right to information, those whatever ruling classes projecting. These acts exposes once again, the real essence of those much propagated democratic norms and principles. We strongly condemns these undemocratic acts and violation of freedom of press and expression,violation of human rights etc of the fascist JDS-BJP government .
We are insisting immediate release of the press couple. We are demanding to bring those police officials, who are responsible for these anti democratic acts- under punishment. These are all the attempts of further fascisicing the administration and curbing the people’s voice and struggle. Denying the minimum democratic rights . This was experienced in the masterminding and implementation of communal attacks on religious minorities in dakshina kannada, few months back.. The administrative and suppressive bodies like district administration and state police directly joined their hands with sangh parivaar ,ignored administrative and democratic norms and inflicted losses of both human and property to the minorities by loot,arson and killing. These are all heinous crime on humanity perpetrated by state itself.
Recent days these type of attacks are rising alarmingly. Police and administration are trying to mend dissent voices and struggle, according to their norms and wishes. They are directing what to speak , what not to, what to write, what not to,how to conduct struggles and rallies etc and trying to impose those on people and democrats. For this they are adopting all anti people and fascist methods like threatening, harassing,torturing, imposing false cases, stage managing the complaints ,clashes,attacks, killing,using colonial laws etc.
At the same time those acts of law does not applies to sangh parivaar,who are crudely propagating communal hatredness,religious discrimination and caste oppression and also organizing attacks on humanity.
Jainism which emerged through fighting against basically feudal violence and brahminical sanathana dharma, showing intolerance towards freedom of expression and mutual discussion.(samvaada) is not correct and principled one, as through that Jainism got existence.
All pro people and pro democratic organizations , individuals should condemn and protest these type of fascist acts of government and communal forces, as their duty.Otherwise the same will be the their fate in future.

Karnataka naxal movement splits

HYDERABAD: Sharp differences over the Maoist strategy of area-wise seizure of power led to a split in the naxalite party operating in Karnataka.
The ideologues, who disagreed with the Maoist principle of intensifying the revolution in rural areas first and then spreading it to urban centres, have floated a new party named the Maoist Coordination Committee (MCC).
The split in Karnataka has obviously turned out to be an `unpalatable' development for the party leaders, as it comes in the backdrop of intensified efforts to unite smaller naxalite parties in the country. With a majority of the cadres in Karnataka quitting the parent party and joining the MCC, the ideologues are worried. The name of the leader who engineered the split has not yet been announced. He is stated to be making serious attempts to contact the leaders in other states and mass organisations to woo them back into the MCC fold.
Alarmed over this, the CPI (Maoist) Polit Bureau has recently written to all its party members in the country `to expose their opportunistic and disruptionist activities'.
Sources say the split was discussed at length at the recent Polit Bureaumeeting held from November 16 to 24, 2006. The meeting attended by central committee secretary Ganapathi decided to step up efforts to convince their cadres on the futility of the `new line'.
The meeting felt that the central committee had failed to initiate steps to stem the dissent and ideological disagreements had accentuated after the killing of Saketh Rajan (February 6, 2005).
Maoist activity in varying intensities is seen in Bidar, Gulbarga, Bellary, Raichur, Shimoga, Chikmagalur, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Hassan, Kodagu, Tumkur and Kolar.

Maoists move into Western Ghats?

Hyderabad: The Western Ghats have become the new refuge of the CPI Maoists of Andhra Pradesh.
The left-wing extremists are moving to the harsh and rocky terrain of the Western Ghats from the lush Nallamalla and Bhadrachalam forests of Dandakaranya because of the relentless operations by the State police.
It is feared that Naxal activity in Kerala, Karnataka and parts of Maharashtra will witness a spurt because of this.The State special intelligence bureau recently came to know of the movement of Maoists from Dandakaranya to Western Ghats. Police authorities had calculated that their operations would drive the Maoist outfits to Chattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
Instead, Maoists have preferred Karnataka and parts of Western Ghats including Goa. It is believed that they would try to regroup from these areas. “We have learnt that Maoists are conducting special training camps to help their cadre survive in the terrain of the Western Ghats,” said a senior police officer. The State Intelligence sleuths are keeping a tab on Maoist movements in the area now. Karnataka police have also intensified combing operations in Chikmaglur, Raichur and Malnad.
The Maoist presence in the Western Ghats was first noticed in 2001 when a tribal woman, Cheramma, suffered a bullet injury as she fired a gun accidentally at a village Menasenahadya in Chikmaglur. Since then, Maoists have been trying to establish a hold over Western Ghats. But their plans were spoilt by the antics of sandalwood smuggler Veerappan and the activities of the special task force hunting him.
Things have quietened down after Veerappan’s death and Maoists, who are on the run in the State, now consider the Western Ghats their best refuge.
Sources said that the Maoists were creating a corridor from Seshachalam hills of Eastern Ghats to Western Ghats via Jawadi hills, Bennari and Satyamangalam. The Maoists are also trying to expand their activities in coffee plantations in Ooty and adjoining districts of Karnataka.
They have been intervening in local labour disputes in these places. To resist the growing Maoist influence, coffee growers in Malnad region formed an organisation, Grameena Jagruti Sena, a couple of days ago.

Karnataka: suspected naxal held.

CHIKMAGLUR: Gonibeedu Police arrested one G M Krishnamurthy (32) of Bhadra Estate in Balehole, suspecting him to be a naxalite, at Mudigere on Wednesday.
At around 7.30 am, Krishnamurthy boarded the Mudegere-Bangalore KSTRC bus. Acting on a hunch, police constable Purnesh who was travelling in the same bus informed the Banakal police station.
Krishnamurthy got off at Jannapura bus stop and tried to escape. But the people caught him and handed him over to the police. Krishnamurthy was taken to Ramanahalli DAR police station.
Police suspect that Krishnamurthy is the brother of naxalite Vanajakshi, who was arrested when B K Singh was SP.
After her arrest, Krishnamurthy was absconding and is said to have joined the naxalites.According to sources, three cases were already registered against Krishnamurthy for being part of naxal activities in the region.
In December 11, 2003, a case was registered for destroying the forest department check post near Sringeri.
He is also said to be involved in the burning of the forest guest house on November 27, 2003.A case was registered against him for distributing naxal pamphlets in Balehonnur on January 8, 2004.

Police launch search for Naxals in Lingsugur area
RAICHUR: The district police have intensified the combing operation in Hutti and surrounding villages of Lingsugur taluk, suspecting the presence of Naxalites from Malnad region in these villages.
The police are suspecting that Naxalite movement had picked up in these villages following the recent encounters in Malnad region. According to sources, the intelligence reports have found that the Naxalites have been camping in villages like, Gudadanal, Gurgunta, Golapalli, Gejjalgatta and Hutti.
Hutti police have been conducting combing operations and interrogating new faces being spotted in these villages. They are also collecting information about the members of the families presently residing, those who left the villages and the new comers.
The police have been reportedly insisting to provide information about strangers through local TV channels. In addition to Naxalites from Malnad region, the police suspect that Naxalites from Andhra Pradesh have also intruded because of its proximity to this region.
However, the police are not disclosing the number of people they have taken into custody for interrogation.

Karnataka: Land Struggle Launched
Applying the path of Telengana-Naxalbari to present concrete conditions, and trying to translate agrarian revolution to reality, with ‘land to the tiller’ slogan as the battle cry, CPI(ML) Karnataka State Committee has decided to spread struggles for land in all the districts where the party is active. As part of these struggles 64 acres of government land occupied by a landlord in Chikmangloor district was occupied by party and KRS volunteers and distributed among landless adivasi and dalit families in the area. Taking it as a good beginning a vigorous campaign was started in different districts along with study of land relations.
In Kudagu district in South Karnataka where land concentration in the hands of plantation owners and landlords are maximum, de-forested government lands are remaining fallow, and where a sizable section of the population are adivasis and other landless peasants, the district committee took out jathas on foot to propagate the land grab agitation in three tahsils. The response was very positive. In Chikmangloor, Shimoga, Raichur, Koppal and Gadag districts also village level campaign has started.
In January party and KRS activists mobilising the masses are going to occupy government lands lying fallow, illegal land in the custody of plantation owners, surplus lands with landlords and agricultural lands remaining uncultivated to start with. In Kudagu district alone village committees are formed in nearby areas to occupy 20,000 acres of government land lying uncultivated.
