Police launch search for Naxals in Lingsugur area
RAICHUR: The district police have intensified the combing operation in Hutti and surrounding villages of Lingsugur taluk, suspecting the presence of Naxalites from Malnad region in these villages.
The police are suspecting that Naxalite movement had picked up in these villages following the recent encounters in Malnad region. According to sources, the intelligence reports have found that the Naxalites have been camping in villages like, Gudadanal, Gurgunta, Golapalli, Gejjalgatta and Hutti.
Hutti police have been conducting combing operations and interrogating new faces being spotted in these villages. They are also collecting information about the members of the families presently residing, those who left the villages and the new comers.
The police have been reportedly insisting to provide information about strangers through local TV channels. In addition to Naxalites from Malnad region, the police suspect that Naxalites from Andhra Pradesh have also intruded because of its proximity to this region.
However, the police are not disclosing the number of people they have taken into custody for interrogation.
