Four secutiry persons and one civilian killed in Chahattisgarh landmine blastChhattisgarh, Feb. 8 (ANI): Four security personnel and a civilian were killed and five others injured in a landmine blast in Dantewada District in Chhattisgarh this morning.

The security personnel died on the Geedam-Bhopalpatnam section of the national highway.Assistant sub inspector Chandrakant Markam, two jawans of the Nagaland Armed Force and a Special Police Officer were killed in the blast.

The security personnel were from the Bhairamgarh Police Station which is about 10 km from the site of the blast.In the meantime, the injured have been taken to Raipur by helicopter for treatment.Last night, police constable Ashok Potai was killed in a similar attack on the Raoghat Police Station area in Kanker district.Naxalite attacks are not a new thing in Chattisgarh.

Chattisgarh is embroiled in a number of low-intensity conflicts throughout its territory. And many of these naxal attacks are the outcome of such conflicts. The Naxal menace has been plaguing India for quite some time, posing as the other biggest internal security challenge. (ANI)
