Maoists produced in Orissa, MP courts

Hyderabad, Jan. 13: Orissa police produced five Maoists belonging to Andhra Pradesh in Rourkela Court on Saturday after arresting them on the charges of manufacturing fire arms. Investigations revealed that after serious blows in Andhra Pradesh, Maoists are manufacturing fire arms in neighbouring States. Devender Reddy, a member of the Technical Committee of CPI (Maoists) and his wife were among the arrested.

Orissa director-general of police Amaranda Patnaik said, “they are manufacturing single barrel guns on lathe machines. Leftist literature, a laptop, Rs 15 lakhs were seized from them. Three women and two men were produced in the court.” Meanwhile, six Maoists were arrested in Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh).

The police identified the factory at Satnami Nagar and recovered arms, including handgrenades, rocket launchers, pistols, revolvers and a carbine. Rs 12 lakh and six boxes of Naxalite literature were also recovered. The arms were being supplied to Maoists in Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karntaka. Police said that for over two years, a group of men and a woman hailing from Andhra Pradesh were allegedly manufacturing the ammunition in a three roomed shed in Satnami Nagar.
