Combing on in Hogenakkal forest
DHARMAPURI: Dharmapuri Superintendent of Police H M Jayaram launched a combing operation in Hogenakkal forest on Monday to nab underground naxalites.In view of the Naxal leader late Ravindran‘s death anniversary on January 10, the police security has been tightened up in the district.
The police team, comprising Naxal Special Duty (NSD) wing, Special Task Force (STF), Tamil Nadu Special Police party and Local Station police have jointly monitored the operation in the naxal-prone villages in Dharmapuri district to avert any untoward incidents.The Q branch police have also been conducting special search at the naxal-prone villages.
The team led by the SP conducted combing operations at Hogenakkal forest area and the hilly villages like Pennagaram, Oottamalai, Biligundalu, Boodhipatti, Neruppur and Pannappatti.The villagers were also asked to inform the nearby police station, if they noticed anything strange in their area at phone numbers: (04342) 230989 and 266199.He appealed to the tribes not to follow any announcement of strangers.
